OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE DISORDER IN
ADULTS: A COGNITIVE-BEHAVIORAL APPROACH
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) was once
considered an intractable disorder. With the development of
disorder-specific cognitive behavioral treatment strategies, alone, and
combined with psychopharmacological intervention, OCD can indeed be
successfully treated. This workshop will focus on specific cognitive
behavioral interventions shown to be effective in treating obsessions and
compulsions.

SHHH! COMPASSION FATIGUE AND THE ETHICAL DILEMMAS WE DON'T
TALK ABOUT
The ethical guidelines of our profession were
once governed by simple, direct, unambiguous rules; however, in today’s
far more complex therapeutic climate, the old rules don’t seem so clear
anymore. Clinicians
and supervisors, working continuously, hour after hour with clients, hearing
the pain and suffering of poverty, PTSD, abuse and trauma, depression, loss,
or other special needs, begin to suffer from the very symptoms they are
attempting to manage in others.
This workshop will help professionals gain an understanding of what
compassion fatigue is, as well as explore the ethical dilemmas they face
around treatment boundaries and the importance of self care.

bipolar manifests clinically, how it appears different in children versus
adults, how to use specialized self-report and parent-report measures to aid
in differential diagnosis, and how to use cognitive-behavioral therapy to
address the specific needs of children and adolescents dealing with bipolar
disorder.

 | STOPPING
SEXUAL HARM AMONG YOUTH: AN EMPIRICALLY DRIVEN APPROACH TO TRAUMA
This presentation
will illustrate a collaborative approach for engaging families in treatment
with sexually aggressive youth in community-based and residential settings.
This model explores family members strengths and resources to heal the pain
of sexual abuse. While offender specific treatment challenges each
perpetrator to stop destructive behavior, families receive support for
healing related painful experiences. Youth and families learn to destroy
powerful secrets of sexual abuse that may have influenced their lives for
generations. Treatment addresses struggles with power, control, and
connection that have often dominated the lives of these families.
